Uterus didelphys, or double uterus, is a very rare condition. Chances are between 1:1000 to 1:1000000 women around the world, and sometimes occurred within a family. In some cases of double uterus, both ovaries are located together on one set of fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix (uterus) and vagina. But there is also having two complete sets of each, two wombs, two sets of fallopian tubes and ovaries, two cervix and two vagina. A woman may undergo surgery to unify two vagina, uterus but two tipical, completely separate. This condition usually occurs when vessels mullers on the formation of the fetus was never merged into the uterus as it should.
In Desembar 2006 in Britain, three babies were born from two separate uterus in a woman. As far as known, only 70 women with double uterus (uterus didelphys) who have been pregnant at the same time with one baby in every womb. The possibility of this happening is approximately one in five million. The possibility of women had a double uterus pregnant with three babies (two babies in one uterus, and one other baby in the womb) is one of 25 million. And the third possibility the baby survive even smaller.
There are several problems associated with this phenomenon of a double uterus. These anomalies can cause fertility problems because each of the womb is only half the normal size. It also makes it difficult to fully developed babies and difficult for prospective mothers to be able to carry her baby (two or three babies) to grow perfect because there is no enough space in the womb. Women who become pregnant in the womb at once, usually have to give birth early by Caesarean section before both the uterus becomes too narrow and the baby can not continue to grow. In most cases of double uterus, no uterus that can stretch to accommodate the growing fetus that has been perfect.
This type of pregnancy (pregnant in two wombs simultaneously at the same time), very rarely get a fetus with the same age. In the case of double pregnancy in two wombs, expectant mothers can give birth to separate with a span of days, weeks or months apart in total recall of the uterus (both babies are different ages). This can cause problems in connection with such schedule. Only a few doctors who allow women caesarean twice a month.
